The mission of KU-Transition to Postsecondary Education (KU-TPE) is to ensure that students with Intellectual Disability (ID) have the opportunity to experience an inclusive postsecondary education through academic, career development and student life activities at the University of Kansas.
Through full participation in KU-TPE, students experience high quality inclusive work-based learning leading to a career pathway for integrated employment outcomes, academic experience, and a social life with fellow Jayhawks.
During this 2-year non-degree seeking program that leads to the KU Career Development certificate students:
- take credit-bearing KU courses with individualized accommodations and adaptations,
- participate in KU student clubs, organizations, and activities,
- have the option to live in KU Housing, and
- develop a career pathway including internships each semester.
